Tom Jomby of France produced a clinical performance to take down Ukraine’s Danylo Kalenichenko in straight sets and claim the Dayak Tennis Championship title in Abuja on Sunday.

A quick, ruthless show of efficiency in the first set, followed by a tiebreak win in the second, saw the fourth-seeded Frenchman record a 6-1, 7-6(4) win in only 64 minutes on Centre Court of the National Tennis Centre for his 6th career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Kalenichenko was bidding for a 3rd title on the ITF World Tour, but had no answers to Jomby’s brilliance in the opening set. Despite putting up a better challenge in the second set and staying solid on his serve, the Ukranian lost in the tiebreaker.

Nonetheless, it has been a memorable week for the 25-year-old, who will now aim to go one better at the GSL Open this week. He pockets N612,000 for his week’s effort.

Jomby, meanwhile, gets N1,080,000 and will look to double that at the GSL Open, which begins on Monday, 22 April.
