The draws for the AJC Finals qualifiers for Under 12 were made today, Wednesday at the Tennis Club de l’Amitié in Cotonou by Essi Djeha Akuete, the tournament referee from Togo.
Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Togo, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Gabon, and host nation, Benin Republic make up the 8-nation field in Cotonou.
In the boys’ category, the Nigerian team led by Seun Ogunshakin from Ekiti State, FCT’s Idris Mohammed, and Rivers’s Precious Ikeuba are placed in Group B alongside Benin, Sierra Leone and Togo, while Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Gabon are in Group A.
In the girls’ category, the Nigerian team led by Salamatu Haruna of FCT, Niniola Ajulo of Ogun State, and Oyo’s Imole Afolabi find themselves in Group A alongside Benin and Ghana, while Group B comprises Sierra Leone, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, and Gabon. The Malians are without a girls’ team.
The Nigeria boys will kick-start their campaign against Benin on Centre Court today, after which the girls’ team play Ghana also on Centre Court.
The event holds from 6-10 March.
