Teen sensation, Marylove Edwards turned on a strong performance to power into the semifinals of the ITF/CAT Circuit Junior L’Afrique De L’Quest in Lome, Togo, today.

The 14-year-old defeated America’s Hannah Smith 7-5, 6-3 to reach her first semi-final on the ITF Junior Circuit. She had earlier beaten Manuella Nga of Cameroon in straight sets, and then 3rd seed, Gauri Bhagia of India in three sets to reach the quarter-finals, where she’s now claimed her latest victory.

Edwards will try to remain on track for a first ITF Junior title, when she meets No. 2 seed Yasmin Ezzat of Egypt in the semis.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Jebutu and Michael Osewa came up short in their respective quarter-final encounters, with Jebutu losing 6-3, 6-3 to Myko Kouame of Ivory Coast, and Osewa receiving a double bagel from Mathias Musil, the tournament’s second seed from Czech Republic.
