Abayomi Philips, seeded No. 1, was defeated in three sets by Edis Nokic of Sweden in the second round of the Stavanger ITF in Norway on Wednesday.
Philips had evened the match in the second set after dropping the opening set, but the Swedish qualifier prevailed in the third set tiebreaker to run out a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(4) winner.
The 17-year-old, after his title-run in Accra, Ghana, in August, was looking to claim his second ITF Junior title of the year in Stavanger this week.
