Nigeria’s No. 1, Oyinlomo Quadre captured the Rainoil Open women’s singles title on Sunday afternoon in Lagos, following her victory over 37-year-old Christie Agugbom.

Quadre, who rose to the top of the women’s rankings after her victory at the Dala Championship two weeks ago, registered a 6-1, 3-0 (rtd) win to emerge champion. The 16-year-old was well ahead before Agugbom retired due to injury.

Agugbom, the country’s No. 4, was bidding for her first Rainoil Open title, having finished as a runner-up last year, but called it quits midway through the second set.

Quadre has now claimed all national titles – CBN Open, Dala Championship, and the Rainoil Open today – so far this year without surrendering a single set.

It’s been a great week for the youngster at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, as she also claimed the women’s doubles title, partnering Omolayo Bamidele.
