Marylove Edwards will compete at the Rwanda International Junior Open—a Grade 5 clay-court tournament—in Kigali this week.
The 14-year-old Nigerian, who’s seeded 6th at the event, will take on Mikayla Faura of South Africa in the opening round on Monday. It’s Edwards second week in Kigali, following her campaign at the Kigali Junior Open 2 campaign, where she reached the quarterfinals.
With Faura also having finished in the quarter-finals in last week’s event, both girls will certainly be looking to bounce back and put together a stronger week here.
It’s a first time meeting between both youngsters on the ITF Junior Circuit and Edwards will fancy her chances of topping the unseeded South African.
The Kigali International Junior Open is live from the Cercle Sportiff de Kigali from 24 – 29 June.
