It is with great regret that the organizing committee of the Rainoil Tennis Open have decided to postpone this year’s tournament due to venue selection issues.
The Rainoil Tennis Open was unable to secure an appropriate venue due to public health concerns linked to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Efforts will now be focused on planning for the tournament to come up earlier in the year 2021 when the conditions will hopefully be more favorable.
Uppermost in the mind of the organizing committee has been the health and safety of all of those who come together to make the tournament happen – the visitors from all around Nigeria, our players, guests, members, staff, volunteers, partners, contractors, and local residents.
This year’s tournament would have been the 4th edition of the clay-court event, which usually holds in Lagos. Last year’s winners, Sylvester Emmanuel and Oyinlomo Quadre, both went home with a prize money of N500,000 and N400,000 respectively.
With the Dala Hard Court and Vemp National Open postponed until 2021 too, the just concluded CBN Open will be the only National Senior Tennis tournament to hold this year, mostly due to the effect of the COVID-19 and pandemic situation.
