32 women will slug it out for 8 main draw spots in the women’s singles field at the Rainoil Open in Lagos. The qualifiers get underway on Saturday, with youngster, Jesutoyosi Adeusi, veteran, Omotayo Osewa among those in action.
Adeusi, 2-time quarter-finalist at the NTF International Junior Championships, begins her quest for a main draw place against Esther Ajayi.
Former Nigeria’s No. 1, Omotayo Osewa plays Oluchi Igwe for a place in the second round, while Afolarin Akosile takes on Juliet Enyi.
16-year-old Toyin Asogba will go head-to-head with Ujunwa Umeh on Court 3. Asogba also posted a quarter-final showing at the NTF International Junior Championships in Abuja this month and is certainly looking to secure a place in the main draw here.
Qualifying action will continue in the men’s singles field, with Isaac Akande and Michael Ayoola opening play on Court 3, and Fortune Uche going head-to-head with Abdullahi Musa next door on Court 4.
Plays begins from 8:00am on Saturday at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos.
