Oyinlomo Quadre put up a dominant display to move into the quarter-finals of the J3 Pretoria in South Africa today.
Quadre, who’s seeded second at the ITF Grade 3 tournament, dropped just three games in a comfortable 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ines Bekrar of Algeria in Tuesday’s second-rounder.
The 16-year-old now takes a 2-1 head-to-head lead over Bekrar, following her dominant win. Up next for Quadre is Tunisia’s Sarah Aubertin, who beat Maria Charl 6-1, 6-3.
Quadre and Aubertin have squared off once on the ITF Junior Tour, with the Tunisian clinching a narrow 6-3, 0-6, 7-6(4) first round win at the African Closed Junior Under-18 Championship in Morocco, in March last year. Quadre will look to get her revenge, when the girls meet on Wednesday and make the semifinals.
The Nigerian teen was also impressive in the doubles event on Tuesday, as she made great pairing with Salma Loudili of Morocco to reach the girls doubles quarter-finals.
The pair proved too much for the South African-Tunisian duo of Amy Bloch and Wiem Boubaker, as they claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
For a place in the doubles semifinals, Quadre and Loudili will play South Africa’s Jessica Portwig and Suzanie Pretorius.
