Abayomi Philips and Emmanuel Jebutu fell short in their respective opening round encounters at the J4 Frederiksberg—ITF Grade 4 hard-court tournament—in Copenhagen, Denmark on Monday.
Philips, seeded third at the event, fell to Sweden’s Adrian Luddeckens 6-1, 6-2. The 17-year-old 1-time ITF Junior champion (J5 Accra, 2019) will hope to return to winning ways when he takes to the ITF Oslo Open in Norway next week.
Elsewhere, Jebutu was edged 6-4, 6-3 by Sweden’s Olle Lidholt. The Nigerian teen, whose best run on the ITF Junior Tour was a semifinal finish at the J5 Abuja in November last year, will also look to bounce back, when he moves to Oslo next week.

Philips and Jebutu are out of singles action in Copenhagen, but they still have doubles duty at the event. The duo won their first doubles title as a team at the J5 Abuja last year and will begin their quest for a second, when they take on the Dane pair of Julius Kostopoulos and Valdemar Frederik on Tuesday.
Philips and Jebutu reached the doubles semifinals in Stavanger, Norway two weeks ago and will try to better that run this week.
