Following an early first round exit last week, Oyinlomo Quadre will go all out for a solid campaign this week as she returns to action at the J2 Tunis—the Grade 2 hard-court tournament in Tunisia—this week.
Quadre competed in the first leg of the event a week ago, where she got edged 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 by Eva Shaw of Great Britain in the opening round. The teenage star, now ranked 180 on the ITF World Junior Rankings, said it was only a minor setback and noted that she’ll be bounce back.
The 16-year-old will now face her coeval Lois Boisson of France in the first round on Tuesday. Boisson, who won two ITF Junior titles in 2019—J4 Maaseik, Belgium and J5 Colomiers, France—also competed in the first leg of this event last week, where she reached the second round.
Quadre, having secured 3 ITF Junior titles in 2019 (J3 Megrine, Tunisia, J4 Cotonou, Benin, and J5 Abuja), will hope to begin her quest for a first title this year on a fine note, when she squares off against the 278th-ranked Boisson.
Matches are live from the Courts de Tennis de la Cité Nationale Sportive in Tunis from Tuesday, 28 January.
