Teen sensation, Oyinlomo Quadre produced a solid performance to beat Morocco’s Sara Akid 7-5, 6-2 and reach the quarterfinals of the ITF Junior Tennis Club de Megrine in Tunisia on Thursday.
It’s a sweet revenge for Quadre who had lost to Akid in three sets in the semifinals of the Grade 4 clay-court tournament in Rabat, Morocco, in October last year.
Sara Akid won the African Junior Closed Championships for 16 & Under in Hammamet a week ago, but couldn’t match the intensity of Quadre here.
Up next for Quadre is French qualifier, Emma Aucagne, who defeated Aisha Niyonkuru of Burundi 6-3, 6-3.
In the doubles event, Quadre and Maria Charl of Egypt were beaten 6-1, 1-6, 10-5 in the first round by the Tunisian-Moroccan duo Sarah Aubertin and Sara Akid.
