Teen sensation, Oyinlomo Quadre retired due to injury midway through her match against Morocco’s Yasmine Kabbaj in the quarterfinals of the 13ème Tournoi International Juniors de Tlemcen in Tlemcen, Algeria today.

Kabbaj led 7-5, 3-0 before the 15-year-old Nigerian called it quits due to the injury.

Quadre came into the Grade 2 clay-court tournament on the back of a title-triumph at the ITF Junior Tennis Club de Megrine in Tunisia last week, a result that propelled her to a career-high ranking of 202 in the world.

However, in the doubles event, Quadre partnered Salma Loudili of Morocco to reach the semifinals.

The duo defeated the Algerian pair of Ines Bekrar and Rehab Mebarki 7-5, 6-2 in the first round on Wednesday, before going on to make light work of the top-seeded Finn-Dutch duo of Alexander Antilla and Clarine Lerby 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Quadre and Loudili will next take on third seeds, Sara Akid and Yasmine Kabbaj for a place in the final.
