Joseph Imeh’s return to the number one position on the Men’s ranking was confirmed when the NTF rankings were released on Monday 16th of November.
Imeh leapfrogged 2019 CBN Open Champion Sylvester Emmanuel, when he came back from a set down to defeat Uche Oparaoji in the 2020 CBN Open semifinals, a day after Sylvester had bowed out in the Quarterfinals to Musa Mohammed.

Joseph Imeh
Imeh who is also the current defending Champion of the Dala Hard Court, had once reached top spot before in 2017, when he played brilliantly well in all National tournaments, only to lose in the Championship Matches. His first CBN Senior Open title in Abuja ensures that he returns to top position ahead of rival Sylvester Emmanuel.
In 2nd place is current Rainoil Open and Vemp Open champion, Sylvester Emmanuel, who is 155 points behind Imeh, while Musa Mohammed and Uche Oparaoji both occupy 3rd and 4th positions respectively, after having identical results in all four national tournaments.

Abdulmumin Babalola in Action
One of the biggest sliders on the new NTF rankings is Abdulmumin Babalola, falling out of the Top 40, after losing in the second-round of the just concluded CBN Senior Open. Babalola who played only one National Tournament in 2019, the CBN Senior Open, came into the 2020 Edition having to defend his 2019 CBN Runners-Up points to maintain a respectable position, but the 36-year-old veteran lost in three sets to Ikechukwu Iloputa.
In the doubles discipline, Imeh maintains top spot, after he alongside Albert Bikom played in the men’s doubles final at the 2020 CBN Senior Open. Albert Bikom is one spot up from last year and is now number 3 in the Rankings.
Shehu Lawal, who together with Abdulmumin Babalola won the CBN Men’s Doubles title, is at number 2, while Babalola ranks 5 as Christian Paul takes number 4 position.
