Oyinlomo Quadre claimed an easy win over Folashade Ogunshola to reach the second round of the Vemp Open in Abuja today, while defending champion, Blessing Samuel sped past Omotayo Osewa.
Quadre, 16, began her bid for a 4th consecutive national title, with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over lucky loser, Ogunshola. The talented teenager, still without a set loss in national tournaments this year, takes on Toyin Asogba next.
Aanu Aiyegbusi, ranked second in the country, also claimed a 6-0, 6-0 on the day against qualifier, Blessing Danjuma. Aiyegbusi will next play Bunmi Are for a place in the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere, defending champion, Blessing Samuel, got off to an impressive start, as she dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Omotayo Osewa, who came in via the qualifiers.

Samuel will look to keep it going when she next plays Osariemen Airhunwhunde, who beat Joy Sunday 6-4, 6-1.
Christie Agugbom, ranked No. 4 in the country, powered past qualifier, Rose Abu 6-1, 6-3 to also make the second round, where she will face Oluchi Ozurumba, who defeated Faith Sunday 6-2, 6-2.
In other matches, Bukola Olowu took out Amala Nwokolo 6-0, 6-4, while Omolayo Bamidele beat Ngozi Dirisu 7-6(3), 6-2.
In the doubles, the pair of Omolayo Bamidele and Oyinlomo Quadre outclassed Temitope Fashanu and Ramota Odeyemi 6-3, 6-0. Bamidele and Quadre will try to stay on course for a second consecutive doubles title, when they next face the duo of Rose Abu and Bukola Olowu, who defeated Blessing Danjuma and Amala Nwokolo 6-2, 7-5.
