The finals will draw the curtain on what has been an exciting junior tennis competition, as the 2nd edition of the Play Your Age Junior Tennis Championships comes to a close on Sunday, 21 April.
Youngsters, Mohammed Idris and Salamatu Haruna headline the final action, with other juniors looking to secure the top honour in their respective categories.
Mohammed Idris, who was instrumental to the country’s boys team’s third-place finish at the AJC Finals qualifiers in Cotonou last month, defeated his teammate in Cotonou, Seun Ogunsakin in the semifinals. Idris now takes on Ezekiel Azi in the final of the Boys Under-12 category. Both players are members of the FCT tennis association team.
FCT’s Salamatu Haruna, who won the Girls’ U-12 category at the Chevron Junior Championships last month, will take on Imole Afolabi of Oyo in the Girls’ U-12 final.
In the Boys Under-10 final, Peter Idoko of Benue will go head-to-head against Musa Isah of FCT, while Mariam Azi Bala of FCT meets Mnena Lorlumun of Benue in the Girls’ Under-10 final.
Sani Saidu of FCT will confront Akwa Ibom’s David Ekpeyong in the Boys U-14 final, while in the Girls’ U-14, FCT’s Iye Onoja battles Esther Oni of Ekiti.
The final matches are live on Sunday from the National Tennis Centre in Abuja from 10:00am.
