This year’s Rainoil Open, which was it’s 3rd edition, came to a fine close on Sunday at the Lagos Country Club, with Sylvester Emmanuel and Oyinlomo Quadre emerging men’s and women’s singles champion, respectively.
Sylvester Emmanuel, who’s ranked No. 1 in Nigeria, denied Joseph Imeh a second straight men’s singles title, with an impressive performance in the final.
The 22-year-old claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Imeh, who was playing in his third final at the event, to emerge victorious without dropping a set the entire tournament.
In the women’s singles final, Oyinlomo Quadre comfortably secured the title, following a 6-1, 3-0 (rtd) win over Christie Agugbom, who retired due to injury midway through the second set.
The previous day, Quadre had teamed up well with doubles partner, Omolayo Bamidele to claim the women’s doubles title, beating Christie Agugbom and Blessing Samuel 6-3, 6-4.
Also, in Saturday’s men’s doubles final, Uche Oparaoji and Godgift Timibra defeated Joseph Imeh and Christian Paul 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 to claim the title.
