Qualifiers for the second week of the Lagos Open begin Monday morning and quite a number of Nigerians headline the qualifying draw in both the men’s and women’s field.
Nigeria’s top player, Sylvester Emmanuel opens play on Court 1 against his countryman, Augustine Stephen, with the winner facing either Emmanuel Oche or Gabriel Friday in the second round.
Emmanuel Jebutu faces Britain’s Darryl Hale, while Paul Emmanuel squares off against Omotayo Omodara. Whoever comes through that encounter will have either Matthew Abamu or Tochukwu Ezeh to contend with in the second round. Christian Paul will face Godsgift Timibra in his opener.
In the women’s field, Osariemen Airhunwhunde and Patience Onebamhoin go head-to-head, while Sarah Adegoke takes on Abiodun Oyegoke. Blessing Anuna will play Aanu Aiyegbusi, and youngster, Omolade Aderemi against Peace Udoh.
Qualifying action begins Monday from 9:30am at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.
