The four players standing in each category will now compete for a place in the finals of the Kaduna Clay Court National Junior Tennis Championship, on Friday at the Kaduna Club.

In the Boys 14 field, Mohammed Idris will face Lucky Danjuma in a repeat of their 2020 CBN Juniors semifinal clash, a match which Idris came out tops, while Yahaya Sani will have a showdown with Ezekiel Azi. The four boys are all from FCT, and that means, no matter what happens at the Semis, a player from FCT is going to emerge winner of the Boys 14 and Under title.

Mohammed Idris KCC 2020

Mohammed Idris is the highest ranked player ranked player left in the Boys 14 Category.

The Girls 14 Semifinals will see Imole Afolabi and Salamatu Haruna face off. Afolabi against Haruna will be a repeat of their 2019 Play Your Age 14 and Under Finals meeting, a match that Salamatu conveniently won, while Faith Adeusi will be hoping to salvage something for Team Ekiti when she takes on Kaduna’s Khadijat Mohammed.

Faith Adeusi is yet to drop a single game all tournament.

The FCT domination continued in the Boys 16 and Under category, as top seed, Canice Abua faces Moses Olamilekan, a player from Ondo, in the Semifinals. While another FCT player, Michael Akpan, will play youngster, Suleiman Ibrahim, who is from Kaduna. Which will it be? An all FCT boys final, or will their opponents take the shine of them?

Will Canice Abua stand his ground against the hard-fighting Moses Olamilekan?

Elsewhere in the Girls 16 and Under category, Top seed, Mary Udoffa, who’s from Akwa Ibom will play Lagos’ Faith Ameh. While another Lagos player, Destiny Okhinaye will face Esther Azi in the match that will decide who plays in the finals. None of the ladies have lost a set since the tournament began, with some not even losing a single game in the previous round. Can Faith Ameh exact her 2020 CBN Juniors round robin defeat against Mary Udoffa? Or will second seed, Esther Azi finally drop her first game against Destiny Okhinaye?
