The Semifinals of the Girls 16 and Under category of the ongoing Kaduna Clay Court event also went underway in Kaduna, earlier today, Friday, November 27.

In a match that seemed rather swift, top seed, Mary Udoffa thrashed Faith Ameh, in a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 win. Udoffa had recently beaten Faith Ameh on her way to claiming the Girls 16 title at the CBN Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos last month.

Faith Ameh just couldn’t stand Mary Udoffa.

Second seed, Esther Azi, also claimed a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Destiny Okhinaye. Esther comfortably took the first set 6-3 and also built a 5-0 lead in the second set, before Destiny threatened to make a magical come-back, winning three consecutive games. Serving for the match at 5-3, Azi hit a double-fault on her first match point, but weak return into the net from Destiny ensured that Esther will play in the Girls 16 final tomorrow.
