Action continued in the Girls Category on Thursday as players secured decisive victories to reach the semifinals of the ongoing Kaduna Clay Court Junior Tournament.
Top seed in the Girls 14 and Under Catogory, Imole Afolabi, threw a 4-0 lead in the 2nd set, but found a way to eventually defeat Plateau’s Mercy Monday 6-0, 7-6(5), while Salamatu Haruna rallied her way into the semis after a hard-fought 6-1, 6-4 victory over Success Ogunjobi.

In the other Girls 14 matches, second seed Faith Adeusi, handed Favour Odey a double bagel as Favour Godwin avoided the same fate against Khadijat Mohammed, after retiring at 5-0 down in the 2nd set.

In the Girls 16 and Under category, the ladies didn’t have any trouble dismissing their opponents. Top two seeds, Mary Udoffa and Esther Azi, didn’t drop a single game as they defeated Kemi Adebayo and Bukola Adeniyi respectively. Meanwhile, Destiny Okhinaye from Lagos, defeated Kaduna’s Stephanie Nyamshar 6-1, 6-0, before Okhinaye’s team-mate Faith Ameh, secured a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Blessing Adai.
