Semifinal matches at the Kaduna Clay Court National Junior Tennis Championship was decided today, in Kaduna, with the last four players in both the Boys 14 and Boys 16 Category battling it out for a chance in the finals.

In the Boys 14 and under, Ezekiel Azi defeated Yahaya Sani in a heated match that ended 6-3, 7-6(6). Apart from the first and ninth game of the first set, where Ezekiel Azi held serve, both players lost their service games throughout the first set, and that was enough for Azi to secure the first set 6-3.

The second set started with Ezekiel zooming into a 3-0 lead, before Yahaya won four straight games to lead 4-3, Azi and Sani would both hold their respective serves to guide the second set into a tie-break. Azi would then clinch victory on his second match point to qualify for the final.

Meanwhile 3rd seed Mohammed Idris dismissed Lucky Danjuma 6-3, 6-4, to secure a spot in the final. Idris carved out an important break in the eight and seventh game of the first and second set respectively to set up a championship match against teammate, Ezekiel Azi.
