The battle for second round spots at the NTF International Junior Championships continues on Wednesday in Abuja.
Nigerians, David Ekpenyong and David Dawariye are among those on the day’s menu.
Ekpenyong opens play on Court 3 against Britain’s Abdulraheem Isa. The Nigerian teenager, who secured a main draw place via the qualifiers, recently posted a runner-up finish at the Chevron Junior Masters in Lagos last month. The youngster will harbour hopes of a stronger outing this week as he seeks a first ITF Junior title this year.
On Court 1, David Dawariye takes on his compatriot, Azeez Similoluwa, with lucky loser, Uche Emeruwa facing Ghana’s Ivan Wularu afterwards.
Qualifiers, Musa Sani and Rubi Toba will go head-to-head for a second round place, while Bulus Bulus, also a qualifier, squares off against lucky loser, Elisha Olowogbile.
Bulus and Olowogbile will still be in action on the day, as they take on doubles duty with their respective partners. While Bulus teams up with Habila Haggai to take on the duo of Benjamin Ayuba and Abdulraheem Isa for a place in the quarter-finals, Olowogbile will join forces with Uche Emeruwa to face Azeez Similoluwa and Ivan Wularu.
The duo of David Dawariye and Wilson Igbinovia will meet Michael Emmanuel and Ojo Fredrick, while the Nigerian-Indian pair of Gabriel Friday and Siddharth Tirupati confronts Musa Mohammed and Musa Sani.
Matches are live from 10:00pm at the National Tennis Centre, Abuja.
