The ITF World Tennis Tour will take its annual 3-week stop in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja in April. From the 8th through to the 28th, players from all over the world will storm the city in search of vital ATP and ITF rankings points as well as $75,000 in total prize money on the outdoor hard courts of the National Tennis Centre in Abuja.
With preparations for the men’s event fast underway, the world governing body has released both the entry and withdrawal deadlines for players seeking to participate in any of the three events – the Tombim Abuja Open, the Dayak Tennis Championships, and the GSL Open, in that order.
For the Tombim Abuja Open, which is the first of the three events, players have 14:00 GMT on Thursday, 21st March as deadline for entry, and Tuesday, 26th March as deadline for withdrawal.
For the Dayak Tennis Championships, which is the second event, the entry deadline for players is 14:00 GMT on Thursday, 28 March, while the withdrawal deadline is on Tuesday, 2 April.
For the GSL Open, which will be on the third week, the ITF has set Thursday, 4 July by 14:00 GMT as the entry deadline, and Tuesday, 9 April as withdrawal deadline.
The Tombim Abuja Open will hold 8-14 April, the Dayak Tennis Championships will get underway immediately from 15-21, while the GSL Open will be from the 21st through to the 28th of April.
Each tournament has a prize-money of $25,000+H, with the singles having a main draw size of 32, and doubles, 16.
