Marylove Edwards kept alive her hopes of a first ITF Junior title, with an impressive come-from-behind performance against No. 3 seed, Gauri Bhagia of India at the ITF/CAT Circuit Junior L’Afrique De L’Quest in Lome, Togo, today.
Edwards had fallen behind early and lost the first set, but the 14-year-old brushed aside the disappointment and rallied impressively to claim a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory and move into the quarter-finals.
Up next for Edwards is either Vania Dotse of Togo or America’s Hannah Smith.
Meanwhile, Abayomi Philips and Joshua Aji couldn’t get past the third round, with Reginald Okantey edging Philips 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, and Vence N’tcha overcoming Aji 6-0, 7-5.

Joshua Aji fell short.
Elsewhere, Michael Osewa came from a set down to beat India’s Jaishvin Sidana, the tournament’s 10th seed, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 and book a Thursday quarter-final date with No. 2 seed, Mathias Musil of Czech Republic.
Emmanuel Jebutu also joined the quarter-final train, following a comprehensive 6-2, 6-4 victory over Dylan Bruce. Up next for the Nigerian is Myko Kouame of Ivory Coast.
All three Nigerians left in the draw are in quarter-final action on Thursday at the AAT & Stade Omnisports Eyadema in Lome, Togo.
