Nigeria’s No.1, Sylvester Emmanuel, and Joseph Imeh booked their places in the main draw of the GSL Open in Abuja, with victories in the qualifiers on Monday.

Emmanuel rallied from a set down to beat America’s Dan Hiddleson 4-6, 6-3, [10-4] in the second qualifying round, while Imeh thrashed Igor Banicevic of Serbia 6-0, 6-3.

Both men will lead Nigeria’s charge for glory at the GSL Open, alongside Musa Mohammed, who received a wildcard, when main draw action begins on Tuesday, 23 April, at the National Tennis Centre.

Meanwhile, Christian Paul was beaten by Benin’s Arnaud Sewanou 6-2, 6-3, while Tochukwu Ezeh fell to Boris Butulija of Serbia 6-4, 6-1. William Bushamuka of USA and Czech’s Dominik Palan also qualified.

Emmanuel will take on the towering Frenchman, Jaimee Floyd Angele in the first round on Wednesday, while Joseph Imeh and Swedish qualifier, Simon Yitbarek go head-to-head for a place in the second round.
