Dan Added of France claimed his first title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, following a 7-5, 2-0 (rtd) over his countryman, Tom Jomby in the final of the GSL Open at the National Tennis Centre in Abuja on Sunday.

The 20-year-old, playing in his first ITF World Tennis Tour final in 16 months, stayed solid on his service game in the first set, likewise Jomby, until the 12th game, where he carved out the all-important break to take the set, ending Jomby’s run of 18 consecutive set wins.

In the second set, Added began strongly and opened up a 2-0 lead, before Jomby retired due to injury.

Jomby, a 6-time ITF World Tour winner, was bidding for a second consecutive title in Abuja, having clinched the Dayak Tennis Championships last week.

It’s a fantastic end to Added’s outing in Abuja for the 3-week ITF World Tour events. He made back-to-back semifinal finishes at the Tombim Open and Dayak Championships, before going one better at the GSL Open and even further to claim the title – the biggest of his career yet.
