Rebecca Ekpeyong, David Ekpeyong, and Seun Ogunsakin are among players who are into the semifinals of the Chevron Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos.

Round-robin action of the 19th edition of the Chevron Junior event concluded on Friday, with top seed in the boys 12 & under, Seun Ogunsakin beating Praise Ikeuba 9-2 in Group A. In the semifinals on Saturday, Ogunsakin, who’s aiming for his second consecutive title in this category, will take on 4th seed Lucky Danjuma, who thrashed Prince Emeka 9-0 in Group D.

Meanwhile, Silas Isaac, who defeated Arwal Jaji 9-1 in Group C, will face 3rd seed, Henry Aina in the other boys semifinals.

In the girls 12 & under, Favour Amaechi, who’s seeded No. 1 in this category, dismissed Khadijat Haruna 9-2 in Group A and will go on to face 3rd seed, Mary Azi, who claimed a 9-0 win over Fego Ayetuoma in Group C.

Nene Yakubu swatted aside Sarah Adisa for a 9-1 win in Group B and will take on 4th seed, Success Ogunjobi, who beat Esther Lucky by the same scoreline, for a place in the final.

Top seed in the boys 16s, David Ekpeyong continued his impressive round-robin form with a comprehensive 9-1 victory over John Peter in Group A. Ekpeyong will now go head-to-head with 4th seed, Joshua Maxwell in the semifinals on Saturday. Maxwell finished off his round-robin campaign with a 9-3 victory over Usman Garba in Group D.

In Group B, Daniel Adeleye, the 2nd seed, defeated Gabriel Inyang 9-4 and will play Taofeek Mogaji of Group C, who edged 3rd seed Isaac Danjuma 9-7, in the semifinals.

In the girls 16 & under, top seed Rebecca Ekpeyong, who’s looking to secure her second straight title in this category, defeated Esther Azi 9-4 in Group A, and will face Group C’s Mary Udoffa, who eased past Destiny Okhinaye 9-1.

Jesutoyosi Adeusi and Blessing Otu will contest the other girls 16 semifinals. Adeusi edged Serena Teluwo 9-5 in Group B, while Otu secured a 9-8 victory over Chidinma Ezeh.
