Oyinlomo Quadre has carried her impressive form into the 13ème Tournoi International Juniors de Tlemcen- a Grade 2 clay-court event in Tlemcen, Algeria. The 15-year-old defeated home favourite, Ines Bekrar in straight sets in the second round on Wednesday.
Quadre, who’s seeded eight, recorded a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the Algerian to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Nigerian had come into this tournament on the back of a sensational title-run at the ITF Junior Tennis Club de Megrine in Tunisia, and on a new career-high ranking of 202 on the ITF World Junior Rankings. She will be looking to keep up the intensity when she next takes on Morocco’s Yasmine Kabbaj, who secured a hard-fought 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 win over Italy’s Matilde Mariani.
The quarterfinal clash on Thursday will be the second meeting between Quadre and Kabbaj this month. Kabbaj had secured a straight-sets win when the two met in the semifinals of the African Junior Closed Championships in Hammamet two weeks ago.
