The jostle for main draw spots at the Dala Hard Court Championship continues at the Kano Club in both the men’s and women’s fields.
In the 2nd round of the men’s singles qualifiers on Sunday, Michael Osewa, who’s looking to book a main draw spot here in Kano after competing at the 2-week NTF International Juniors in Abuja, reaching the round of 16 in both legs, outclassed Sabi Faruk 6-1, 6-0 and will next play Egena Paul, who went past Usman Shuaibu 7-6(5), 6-0.

Elsewhere, Matthew Abamu produced a solid display to beat Ayuba Benjamin 6-4, 6-4 and will next play Roland Franklin, who had a walkover against Ali Isa.
Uche Emeruwa retired injured midway through his match against Isaac Attah, who was already leading 6-0, 3-0 (rtd). Up next for Attah is Chekwuebe Ojobo, who defeated Isaac Kwange 6-4, 6-2.
In the women’s singles qualifiers, former Nigeria’s No. 1, Omotayo Osewa defeated Pauline Ebijimi 6-0, 6-4, and will next play Miracle Samuel who defeated Mercy Samuel 6-2, 6-0. Amara Nwokolo powered past Zainab Abdulsalam 6-0, 6-0 to set up a second round meeting with Joy Sunday, who came from behind to beat Mariam Ali-Balogun 2-6, 6-1, 10-4.

Elsewhere, Omolayo Bamidele, who won the Zenith Bank Junior Masters in June, will also be looking to secure a spot in the main draw. The youngster plays Juliet Enyi in the second round.
