Qualifying action for the 33rd edition of the Dala Hard Court Championship began on Friday at the Kano Club in Kano, with players looking to work their way through the qualifying rounds and secure a place in the main draw event, which begins on Monday, 18 November.
In Friday’s matches, Benjamin Ayuba, who competed at the NTF International Junior Championships last week, defeated Jinta Jethro 6-0, 6-1 to move into the second round of qualifying. Noah Adamu beat Adamu Usman 6-4, 6-7, 10-3, while Lawal Aminu defeated Patrick Ameh 6-3, 6-3.
Ayuba Dauda beat Silas Kwange 7-5, 3-6, 10-6, while Roland Franklin came from a set down to edge Fredrick Omuta 3-6, 6-4, 10-7. Badamasi Ibrahim also recovered from a slow start to beat Mukhtar Ali 1-6, 6-0, 11-9.
Elsewhere, Sabo Faruk handed Salisu Surajo a double bagel, while Usman Shuaibu accounted for Shuaibu Ahmed 6-1, 6-0. Ali Isa secured a 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-7 victory over Ibrahim Ali. Emmanuel Leo and Egena Paul both claim straight sets victory, with Leo beating Bitrus Mohammed 6-3, 6-3 and Paul registering a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Qualifying action continues on Saturday from 8:00am at the Kano Club, Kano.
