1st round action in the wheelchair event of the CBN Senior Open got under way on Wednesday in Abuja. The players have since advanced into the Quarter-finals; the main draw size is for 16 players, as before.
7-time champion Alex Adewale started his defending campaign by defeating Kola Oyegbata 4-0, 4-1. Adewale is the only one with the title since the wheelchair event was added in 2013.

Double paralympian Wasiu Yusuf, breezed past Kelvin Kingsley in a smooth uncontested 4-0, 4-0, while Lucky Ajidua beat Kayode Alabi 4-0, 4-0, to advance into the Quarter-finals.

Kafayat Omisore
In the women’s singles, defending champion Kafayat Omisore claimed a walkover against Jennifer Anywanu, straight into the Quarter-finals without playing a match.
Elsewhere, Vivian Ozurumba eased past Andrea Adenitire in a 4-0, 4-0 victory. Chituru Nwaozuzu also didn’t concede a single game as she walked into the Quarter-finals with a 4-0, 4-0 win against Joyce Otun.
