The Semifinals of the wheelchair Tennis category at the CBN Senior Open went underway in Abuja, on Friday.

In the men’s singles, defending champion Alex Adewale defeated Williams Ukari 6-3, 6-1, and is now in the finals. Adewale has won every edition he’s been in the finals, which is every year since Wheelchair Tennis was added to the CBN Senior Open in 2013.

Wasiu Yusuf, who’s aiming for his first ever title, defeated Kazeem Akanbi 6-3, 6-1, and will now have a face off with the champ, Alex Adewale on Saturday. If he wins, it will be the first time anyone besides Alex Adewale has won the title, in seven years.

In the women’s singles, defending champion, Kafayat Omisore emerged victorious in the semis after defeating Vivian Ozurumba 6-4, 6-4. Omisore has won the title three years back-to-back.

Chituru Nwaozuzu beat Foluke Shodeinde 6-1, 6-1, to advance into the finals. The only thing standing between her and the crown is the final match with Kafayat Omisore.
