On Friday, the Semifinals of the Men’s singles at the 2020 CBN Senior Open went underway, with players facing off for a chance in the finals, and the results are out now.
2011 finalist, Nonso Madueke edged past Abuja-based Musa Mohammed in an impressive 6-2, 6-3 win. Nonso Madueke, who was sent off in the Quarter-finals last year, is currently ranked No. 9 in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s number two, Joseph Imeh defeated Uche Oparaoji 4 -6, 7-6(1), 6-3 in a very tight match.
Like Madueke, this is also not Imeh’s first time in the finals, as he was a finalist in 2017, where he was defeated by 6-time champion Abdulmumin Babalola.
Nonso Madueke and Joseph Imeh will clash on Saturday to decide who will win their first ever CBN Senior Open Singles title.
Meanwhile in the men’s doubles, defending champions Abdulmumin Babalola/Lawal Shehu have now reached the Finals after defeating Ikechukwu Iloputa/Joseph Iyorovbe 6-2, 7-6(5) in the Quarter-finals, and Christian Paul/Musa Mohammed 6-4, 6-3 in the Semi-finals.
Joseph Imeh/Albert Bikom, who are on the track to win the men’s doubles title together again, will now take on the champions after they defeated Tochukwu Ezeh/Abayomi Philips 6-3, 6-3.

It’s sad that Nonso using a scumbag sleazy move in his match against Godgift Timibra by faking an injury to get him disqualified will then with said injury make it to the final. This life.
