Qualifiers for the men’s singles of the CBN Senior Open began on Friday, with 128 players aiming for a spot in the main draw; only 16 of them will qualify. The other 48 players in the main draw will be from direct acceptances and wildcards.

To speed things up, short sets were used in the qualifiers. Anyway, Joshua Daniel didn’t need much time to dismiss Friday Ojente in a 4-2, 4-1 victory which moves him closer to the main draw.

CBN Junior Tennis Championship 2019 finalist, Suleiman Ibrahim also delivered an impressive 4-2, 4-0 win against James David, in first of the three qualifying matches that will guarantee his inclusion in the main draw of this year’s Senior Open. Suleiman Ibrahim, won the SNEPCo Junior Championship, in May 2019.

Elsewhere, 17-year-old Wilson Igbinovia returned to action with a very comfortable 4-0, 4-0 victory over Musa Ndagana. While Usman Kushimo emerged victorious in a 4-1, 4-0 win against Mohammed Idris.
