Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre and her partner, Anna Lorie Lemongo kept up their intensity in the doubles event at the African Closed Junior Under-18 Championship in Pretoria, as they moved into semi-finals today.
Quadre and Lemongo, bidding for their third ITF doubles title as a pair, knocked out Ines Bekrar and Wlem Boubaker 6-2, 7-5 in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The duo, who are seeded second, will face the Egyptian-Kenyan pairing of Maria Charl and Angela Okutoyi for a place in the final on Thursday.
It’s been an interesting few weeks for 16-year-old Quadre. The youngster claimed her first ITF Junior title of the year last week at the Grade 3 tournament in Pretoria. The title-triumph propelled her to 132 on the ITF World Junior Rankings, making her the highest-ranked African on the rankings log.
Quadre and Lemongo claimed two doubles titles together in 2018. They’ll be looking to secure their third this week.
