Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre, on Tuesday, outclaseed home favourite, Nour Gueblaoui, in straight sets to advance to the second round of the African Junior Closed Championships for 16 & Under in Hammamet, Tunisia.
Having bowed out in the first round of last year’s edition, Quadre, this time, barely worked up a sweat as she dismissed Gueblaoui 6-3, 6-1 to reach the next round.
Up next for Quadre is Maria Charl of Egypt and she knows the Egyptian will be a tough nut to crack.
“Next opponent is Maria Charl from Egypt and that’s a tough opponent,” said Quadre. “Tomorrow [Wednesday] I am going to stay consistent and light on the court.
“It will be just a one way game, keep the balls in and deep, attack on short balls but like mainly less errors.”
In the doubles event, the Nigerian partnered with Kenya’s Angella Okutoyi and it paid off instantly as the duo crushed the Algerian pair of Ines Bekrar and Rehab Mebarki 6-0, 6-0.
