Oyinlomo Quadre continued her brilliant run in Hammamet, conceding only four games against home favourite, Jeribi Gheida to reach the semifinals of the African Junior Closed Championships for Under 16s in Tunisia.
Quadre, who hasn’t dropped a set so far, powered to a 6-3, 6-1 victory against the 15-year-old Tunisian.
Up next for Quadre is Yasmine Kabbaj of Morocco on Friday.
Kabbaj has had quite a year so far, winning a Grade 5 event in Cairo in January. Last month, she reached the semifinals of the Grade B2 event in Marrakesh, Morocco. Kabbaj has also edged Quadre in 3 straight meetings, but the Nigerian is now looking forward to this encounter.
“Tomorrow is going to be very tough for me because I have lost to her three times in a row and I am looking forward to the match,” said Quadre.
Meanwhile, in the doubles, the Nigerian and her Kenyan partner, Angella Okutoyi, were edged 7-6, 6-3 in the semifinals by the Moroccan pair of Sara Akid and Yasmine Kabbaj.
