Oyinlomo Quadre and Lemongo Toumbou kept up their excellent chemistry in the doubles event of the African Closed Junior Championships 18 & Under in Marrakesh, Morocco, as they produced a solid performance to beat home favourites, Yasmine Kabbaj and Doha Zeghlouli 7-5, 6-4 and reach the semifinals in the North African city.
Having steamrolled the Ranaivo sisters from Madagascar in the opening round, Quadre and Cameroon’s Lemongo faced a stern opposition from the Moroccan pair in the quarters, The girls, however, did well to fend off a determined challenge in the first set, before going on to get the crucial break in the second and power to victory.
For a place in the final, Quadre and Lemongo will have to beat another home pair, this time, Sara Akid and Oumaima Aziz, who are both seeded third.
Quadre and Lemongo are seeking their third doubles title together on the ITF Junior Circuit.
