The 2nd edition of the Alhaji Isa Adewale Memorial Kaduna Junior Clay Court Tournament will get underway from Wednesday, 24 – Sunday, 28 March in Kaduna.
The tournament which is held in memory of the late Alhaji Isa Adewale, is sponsored by the son of the late former coach, Nurudeen Isa, himself a former national player and a one-time assistant coach to current tournament director, Coach Ubale Mohammed.
Alhaji Isa, the man the tournament is named after, was Ubale Mohammed’s Coach. He also coached Yakubu Suleiman to the 1984 Olympics games in Los Angeles, when Tennis was reintroduced as a Demonstration Tournament.
The Clay Court event, which held for the first time in 2018, just for Kaduna based players, will now feature the best junior players from around the Northwestern part of the country, in four age categories: Boys 12, Girls 12, Boys 14 and Girls 14.
The sponsor, now a coach in the United States of America, sees this as an opportunity to give back to the Tennis community that made him who he is today. He hopes that series of similar Junior Tournaments, Grassroots Program and trainings can be done so that in a few years from now, Nigeria can produce World Class Players.
The Four-Day Junior Clay Court tournament will take place at the Kaduna Club in Kaduna, with players expected to see arrive on the 24th, with 28th being the departure date. All players accepted to play in the tournament will have their feeding and accommodation fully taken care of.
Registration is already open and interested players can register by contacting the tournament director via his Phone Number – 08037041539, or Email Address – firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration closes on the 22nd of March.
