The 2nd edition of the Vemp Senior Open Tennis Championships will serve off in December at the National Tennis Centre in Abuja.

The hard-court tournament will feature players from all over the country in the men’s and women’s singles categories, which will have a main draw size of 32, as well as the men’s and women’s doubles categories, which will have a main draw size of 16..

However, for the qualifying event, the men’s draw size is 64, while the women’s qualifying draw will have a size of 32. Players have until Friday 6:00pm as sign-in deadline for the qualifiers.

Main draw action will begin on Monday, 9 December – Saturday, 14 December. However, the registration date for players is Friday, 6 December, while qualifying action will take place from Saturday, 7 December – Sunday, 8 December

Sylvester Emmanuel will come in as the men’s singles defending champion, having defeated Joseph Imeh in the final of the inaugural edition last year. Emmanuel clinched the doubles title also, in partnership with Clifford Enosoregbe.

Blessing Samuel beat Loveth Donatus in the women’s singles final to claim the title and also secured the doubles title, partnering Christie Agugbom.

This year’s men’s singles winner will pocket N500,000, while the women’s singles champion takes home N400,000.
