It’s going to be another interesting week of tennis, with the 2nd edition of the Vemp Senior Open taking centre stage in Abuja this week. Nigerian players will again converge at the National Tennis Centre to compete for glory and riches at the hard-court event.
The total prize-money pot for this year’s event stands at N4,508,000, with the money to be shared amongst the men’s and women’s singles and doubles competitors.
The winner of the men’s singles nets N324,000, while N252,000 will go to the women’s singles champion.
The men’s singles finalist get N190,000, while semi-finalists pocket N112,950 each. N66,825 will go to each quarter-finalists, while players who lose in the second round receive N38,700 each. First round losers will get N23,400.

However, in the women’s singles category, N18,200 will be given to first round losers, N30,100 will go to those who finish in the second round, while quarter-finalists get N51,975 each. Semifinalists will pocket N87,850, while the runner-up here gets N148,400.
For the men’s doubles, the winners get N108,500, while the runner-up pair pockets N63,000. Semifinalists get N37,800 and N24,200 will go to each quarter-finalist pair. First round losers will each receive N12,200.
In the women’s doubles, the winners and beaten finalists will get N77,500 and N45,000, respectively, while semi-finalists receive N27,000. It’s N16,000 each for pairs who finish in the quarter-finals and N9,000 for each pair that loses in the first round.
Both the men’s and women’s singles main draw have a size of 32, while the doubles in both fields have a draw size of 16.
