The 2019 ITF World Coaches Conference by BNP Paribas will take place in Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok in October, the International Tennis Federation announced this month.
The event, which will hold at Berkely Hotel in Bangkok from 25-27 October, is expected to attract over 650 coaches and experts from over 90 different countries around the world. It is the showpiece of the ITF’s Coach Education Programme.
Coaches in Nigeria are also expected to be in attendance.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Maximising the player’s journey: the coach as facilitator and team leader’, with Mary Pierce, Emilio Sanchez and Mark Woodforde due to give keynote presentations.
The trio, all of whom won Grand Slam titles during their playing careers, will be the headline speakers at the event and will share their experiences of both playing the game and their experiences as coaches since retiring.
Issues that will be addressed during the 3-day event include matters related to high-level player development, with presentations on the most up-to-date sport science and medical information, coach education as well as practical on-court coaching presentations.
In conjunction with the host country tennis association, the ITF organises this educational gathering in different parts of the world. North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central and South America are where this event has taken place to date. This 2019 edition is being organized by the ITF in conjunction with both the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand and the Asian Tennis Federation.
